DAY 2, September 14, 2020 | Lima

This morning visit a local market full of exciting colors, sounds, smells and tastes. This market is one of Lima’s most famous markets and one of the richest experiences of the capital. From pig heads, hanging chickens, and even ingredients to make Thai curries, this market is incredibly diverse and has a lot to offer in a small space. Tour the “City of the Kings", starting in Plaza Mayor, the original site upon which Lima was founded. You will see the historic Cathedral, which is an architectural masterpiece. You will then pass the photo-worthy Presidential Palace and go to Santo Domingo Convent. After traveling through the historic center, you will be driven across Lima to the Larco Museum. The museum has an extensive private collection of pre-Inca ceramics, considered to be the largest of its kind in the world. It showcases remarkable chronological galleries providing an excellent overview on 3,000 years of Peruvian Pre-Columbian History. For an unforgettable experience, Larco is one of the few museums in the world where visitors can also choose to enter the storage area with its 45,000 classified archaeological objects. Afternoon at leisure to explore the city on your own. Lunch and dinner are under your own arrangements.

DAY 4, September 16, 2020 | Lima-Cusco-The Sacred Valley
Lima-Cusco-The Sacred Valley

This morning you will embark on your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, an Andean community and former ancient capital of the Inca Empire, you will be transferred to a local restaurant for lunch and then to your hotel in The Sacred Valley. En route, you will visit Awanakancha, a center where South American Camelids—Llamas, Alpacas, Guanacos, and Vicunas—are all bred. You will learn about the renowned fibers created from their coats, as well as the ancient weaving techniques still used to this day. Dinner will be at your hotel.

DAY 5, September 17, 2020 | The Sacred Valley
The Sacred Valley

Meet Quechua-speaking farmers and weavers on an inspiring half-day visit to an Andean highland community in the Sacred Valley near the well-known market town and former Inca royal palace of Chinchero. This personal encounter will reveal the unique lifestyle and traditions of descendants from the mighty Inca Empire. Explore their village, see and taste the typical food of the area, understand their ancient medical remedies, watch weavers at work, wander into the fields to learn about local agricultural practices, and join in a traditional Andean blessing. Then enjoy a picnic lunch located in front of a beautiful lagoon. Drive through the valley to the salt pans of Maras (Salineras de Maras) to appreciate a method of salt extraction used since Inca times. From the village of Maras, continue to Moray, a fascinating archaeological site comprising a series of concentric agricultural terraces, some as deep as 150 meters (492 feet), while enjoying the magnificent views this part of the Sacred Valley offers. Lunch is at Rancho Wayra and dinner is under your own arrangements.

DAY 6, September 18, 2020 | Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu

Visit the Children of the Rainbow Foundation (Fundación Niños del Arco Iris) and learn about this very worthwhile project. This charity program was created in 2003 and offers a future to extremely deprived children who are exposed to many risks due to great poverty. Without the Rainbow Foundation, these children would face a dangerous lack of hygiene, medical care, food, schooling, and, most importantly, love. Lunch will be included there. Return to your hotel and dinner will be under your own arrangements.

DAY 7, September 19, 2020 | Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes Town
Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes Town

Admire the massive fortress of Ollantaytambo. This formidable stone structure, which climbs massive terraces and reaches the top of a high peak, was the valley's main defence against the Antis and was the site of the Incas' greatest victory against the Spanish during the wars of conquest. Constructed of rose-colored granite, this huge installation was once a thriving complex of baths, temples, and military barracks. Below the fortress lies a complete Incan town, also called Ollantaytambo, still inhabited and with its original architecture and layout preserved. It´s a short walk to the station in Ollantaytambo to board the Vistadome train service bound for Machu Picchu. Lunch is at El Mapi Hotel. A 25-minute bus ride will bring you to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Accompanied by your guide, explore the city's ruins and feel its pulse as you visualize the lives of the priests, craftsmen, and servants who inhabited this seemingly uninhabitable citadel. Excavations at the site have revealed skeletons, artifacts, and woollen clothing, but no gold. The same precision of assembled stones exists here as in other Incan sites. Afterwards, take the bus to return to Aguas Calientes Town. Dinner will be at your hotel.

DAY 8, September 20, 2020 | Aguas Calientes Town - Cusco

Its construction was influenced by the great Spanish cathedrals of the era, reflecting Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. Another ornate church is Santo Domingo, a 16th-century Dominican church and convent built on the foundations of the Koricancha, the Incas' principal religious building. Lunch is under your own arrangements and the afternoon is at leisure to explore the city on your own followed by dinner is in a local restaurant
