ITINERARY
DAY 1, September 30, 2020 | Singapore
Singapore

Welcome to Singapore! Upon arrival at Changi Airport, your representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

DAY 2, October 01, 2020 | Singapore
Singapore

Today you will experience Singapore’s various cultures by exploring the nooks and crannies throughout different ethnic enclaves. Singapore has a diverse population of more than 5 million people, and the city-state is a melting pot for people of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Caucasian, and Eurasian descent. Our first stop will be at Kampong Glam, the vibrant Malay-Muslim quarter just north of the Singapore River. Admire the quiet majesty of the Sultan’s Mosque with its unmistakable golden dome, visit traditional coffee shops to savor Malay ginger tea called “teh halia,” explore colorful food eateries, and browse through old-fashioned shops selling batiks, carpets, rattan basket-ware, and exotic perfumes. Travel next to Little India where you will see bustling streets showcasing aromatic spices, colorful flower-garland shops, vegetable vendors, busy curry houses, and even henna painting! Stop by Tekka Center, a key landmark in Little India, where different ethnic communities congregate for its wet market, food center, and shops. Chinatown completes the cultural kaleidoscope by combining the old and new, tradition and modernity, in the rows of streets where old traditional shophouses are lovingly restored into tempting restaurants, teahouses, and shops selling arts, crafts, souvenirs, and traditional Chinese medicinal herbs. Enjoy your Welcome Dinner in a local restaurant.

DAY 3, October 02, 2020 | Singapore
Singapore

Today, your tour will begin with a leisurely bumboat ride along the Singapore River. This small river has great historical importance as it is the place where Sir Stamford Raffles established the first trading port in Singapore. The ride will end at Merlion Park near the Esplanade Bridge. In this park, come face to face with Singapore’s very own tourism mascot, the Merlion, standing in the foreground, whilst the structural masterpiece Marina Bay Sands Hotel stands majestically in its awesome grandeur. Your tour continues with a drive around the Civic District past the Padang, Cricket Club, Parliament House, Supreme Court, and City Hall. Next, you will arrive to one of the top places to visit in Asia, Gardens by the Bay, which spans over 100 hectares and is a highlight for any visitor to Singapore. The gardens house two domes or conservatories, Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, which are climate-controlled indoor glasshouses. The Flower Dome (the larger of the two) replicates the cool-dry climate of the Mediterranean and South Africa, whilst the Cloud Forest replicates a cool-moist climate found in Tropical Montane regions such as Mount Kinabalu in Sabah and high elevation areas in South America. There are also 18 impressive-looking Supertrees, which are vertical gardens up to 50 meters tall and provide a bird’s eye view of the gardens, collect rainwater, generate solar power, and act as venting ducts for the park’s conservatory. Have lunch in a local restaurant. The rest of the day is at leisure.

DAY 4, October 03, 2020 | Singapore - Kuala Lumpur
Singapore - Kuala Lumpur

Your guide will transfer you from the hotel to Changi International Airport for Malaysia. At Kuala Lumpur International Airport, your local representative will greet you and bring you to the hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure.

DAY 5, October 04, 2020 | Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur

This tour will highlight Chan See Shu Yuen Clan House, Chinatown, the ornate Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, the Central Market, the Toaist Sze Yeh Temple, the Moorish-style Jamek Mosque and Merdeka Square, and the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Complete the experience with lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner will be at Bijan Bar & Restaurant, which combines traditional Malay cuisine and a luxurious backdrop.

DAY 6, October 05, 2020 | Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur

After breakfast at the hotel, spend a full day discovering the historical city of Malacca. Visit St. Peter’s Church (1710) – the oldest Christian Church still in use in Malaysia. Drive past the largest 17th century Chinese cemetery outside of China, located at Bukit Cina, Chinese Hill. Stop to view the Sultan’s Well before driving through the Portuguese Settlement. Proceed to the famous gateway, “Port De Santiago,” and the ruins of St. Paul’s Church lined by 17th century Dutch tombstones. Next on the list is “Red Square” – the salmon pink Dutch administrative building which today houses the Malacca Museum and government offices. Visit Christ Church, stop for lunch, and then tour the “Abode Merciful Clouds” or the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple – the only temple where you can find 3 major doctrines of local Chinese belief under the same roof – Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Take a stroll along Jonker Street to the banks of the Malacca River and end the tour with a boat ride. Cruise historic buildings, interesting mangrove stands, churches, and villages. The 1998 Sean Connery movie Entrapment was partially filmed here.

DAY 7, October 06, 2020 | Kuala Lumpur - Penang
Kuala Lumpur - Penang

Have breakfast at the hotel. Check out and proceed for an overland transfer to Penang. Stop at the royal town of Perak, Kuala Kangsar, along the way. View the magnificent Ubudiah Mosque, the white Indo-Saracenic building embellished with Moorish arches, black-and-white striped minarets, and golden domes. Then head to Istana Iskandariah, or the Sultan’s Palace, and admires the massive marble structure and its series of towers topped by onion-shaped golden domes. Enjoy a simple lunch at a local restaurant along the highway. Once arrived, proceed to check in at the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 8, October 07, 2020 | Penang
Penang

Breakfast will be at the hotel. Spend half a day exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, a city brimming with art and culture. Tour the world-renowned Pinang Peranakan Mansion, where you will get to meet Penang’s iconic Nyonya impresario, Lillian Tong. Our host is an author and authority on Penang’s quintessential Straits Chinese community. The Peranakan Chinese was a prominent community of Chinese migrants unique to this part of the world and the mansion houses over 1,000 pieces of antiques and collectible items from that era. Take a short walk to the colorful enclave of Little India and be fascinated by the large choices of colorful and delicate sarees. Pass by the oldest Hindu temple in Penang, and then continue on to a Teochew Temple with its ornate rooftops and intricately carved dragon pillars. Get to know the history of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen at the Sun Yat-Sen Museum, followed by a brief fun hunt for Penang’s famous Street Art. Next, head to one of Penang’s Traditional Clan Houses, one-hundred-year-old buildings with antique statues. Last stop is on the waterfront, where you will get a chance to walk along the Clan Jetty where houses are built on stilts and till today. After lunch, return to the hotel to enjoy rest of day at leisure.

DAY 9, October 08, 2020 | Penang
Penang

Today, take an in-depth tour through multicultural Penang and learn about the region’s legacy. Malaysia is home to an array of captivating trades, some of which are quite unlike those in the western world. There will be no shortage of hands-on activities and getting to know these heritage traders, be it joss stick making or batik making. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a local café and then return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure. In the evening, experience a wonderful culinary journey. Enjoy an unhurried ride on a trishaw, which is a three-wheeled pedicab. A trishaw man will pedal you through Little India, the oldest parts of George Town, and to the UNESCO World Heritage Site called “Stewart Lane.” Dinner will be at the Kebaya Dining Room, which applies a delicious mix of traditional Malaysian flavor profiles, Vietnamese lightness, Thai spiciness, and traditional French cooking styles.

DAY 10, October 09, 2020 | Penang - Bali
Penang - Bali

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your flight to beautiful Bali, Indonesia. Often called “Island of the Gods,” this predominantly Hindu island gives visitors the chance to have a unique and fascinating cultural experience, while still being able to partake in any number of exciting or relaxing activities, like surfing, golf, massage, and diving. However, it is often the warmth and friendliness of the Balinese people that make any stay on the island so memorable. After arriving at Ngurah Rai Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel located in the Sanur area. Upon your arrival at the hotel, you will be greeted with a non-alcoholic welcome drink.

DAY 11, October 10, 2020 | Bali
Bali

Today, meet and interact with the Balinese people and experience how families live and work together. There will be plenty of photo opportunities as you pass scenic vistas and interesting villages en route to Subak Guliang, a traditional farming village and compound in the center of the island. The local houses in the village compounds are architecturally unique when compared with other regions of Indonesia. Based on the Asta Kosala Kosali tradition of house building, the method is not dissimilar to the ancient art of Feng Shui. Begin your local encounter by preparing breakfast in the Balinese compound. Seasonal tropical fruits will be served as well as soft drinks, mineral water, coffee, tea, and Balinese cookies. Invigorated by your fresh breakfast, spend the rest of the day exploring the local vicinity. Take a stroll by verdant farms, walk to the nearby school and meet friendly students, and witness the rural life of the Balinese people. You will also get to learn more about the complexities of rice growing - from planting and harvesting through to the best methods of cooking it. Acquire knowledge of the simple but effective irrigation system known locally as subak or just sit back and take it all in whilst enjoying fresh coconut water, one of nature’s most delicious drinks. Lunch will be served right in the middle of the rice field with the soft background of traditional Rindik music played on bamboo instruments. Next, visit Pura Kehan, an 11th-century temple complex near the town of Bangli, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful on the island. Thirty-eight steps lead to the Kori Agung and an attractive courtyard that is guarded by a mythical dragon. Proceed to Penglipuran, a well-ordered village surrounded by plantations and bamboo forests. The local community still adhere to the strict rules and customs that were laid down by their ancestors many centuries ago. Tradition and time-honored ways are still very important here and you will have time to explore this enthralling settlement. Continue to Mas village, which is renowned for its intricate wood carvings, before continuing to Ubud Monkey Forest, a lush nature reserve and temple complex on the outskirts of Ubud. The forest is home to more than one hundred species of trees, a number of interesting temples, and hundreds of macaque monkeys*. Continue your tour with a stroll through central Ubud and its active local market. Known locally as Pasar Seni, this colorful marketplace has a wide range of product, including clothing, textiles, leather goods, and locally designed jewelry. Make sure to take time to see the royal family’s Ubud Palace. Depart in the late afternoon for your hotel.

DAY 12, October 11, 2020 | Bali
Bali

Have breakfast at the hotel and enjoy the day at own leisure of the hotel facilities or the beautiful beach.

DAY 13, October 12, 2020 | Bali
Bali

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before visiting the ROLE Foundation. The Rivers, Oceans, Lands, Ecology (R.O.L.E.) Foundation is a not-for-profit humanitarian organization based in Bali that aims to promote environmental awareness and empower women. The Women’s Skills Education Program provides classes for literacy, English language, basic life and work skills, and vocational skills to local women in need, helping them to access employment and achieve a sustainable income. Here you will have the chance to meet the students, practice making traditional herbal medicine called Jamu, or give an English lesson focusing on basic grammar, conversation, and pronunciation to the students. Travel next to the southern-most tip of Bali to visit the famous Uluwatu Temple. One of seven sea temples that are said to form a ‘chain’ around the island, it is undoubtedly one of the region’s most venerable places of worship. Perched approximately 70 meters above sea level atop a steep cliff, the temple also has one of the most dramatic locations on the island and is the perfect vantage point from which to observe the huge waves as they roll in from the Indian Ocean and crash against the rock face below. Continue the journey to Belmond Jimbaran Puri for a farewell dinner by the beach. Playing host to some of the top Bali restaurants, Belmond Jimbaran Puri weaves together Indonesian and Western elements for a truly sumptuous dining experience.
